The De Bethune horological tradition is all about innovation. The watch manufacturer makes innovation the very core of its innovative process and isn’t it doing an excellent job? De Bethune has integrated new techniques, applied new materials and pushed the limits of watchmaking further with every new collection. They clearly aren’t for every watch lover out there but one must acknowledge passion, expertise and excellence.
The DB28 GS “Grand Sport” expresses a bold character revealed through both ist aesthetic and technical attributes. This model is a more robust alternative to the DB28-series.
The case is made from titanium, provides a hand-polished finish and measures 44 millimeters in diameter and 11 millimeters in height. It is equipped with sapphire crystal that has undergone double anti-reflective treatments and a screwed down case back. Due to the position of the crown at 12 o’clock and the floating lugs system that adapts to wrist size and movements, the DB28 GS is very comfortable to wear, despite its large case size. Also in this watch De Bethune presents its first rubber strap. And the DB28 GS is water resistant up to 100 meters.
The movement of the watch is the DB2115 calibre which is equipped with a self-regulating twin barrel ensuing a 6-day power reserve – a performance than can be tracked down by means of a blue indicator at 3 o’clock on the dial. It is installed “upside-down” and makes up most of the visible dial design. The 4 Hz hand-wound calibre, complete with a silicon and white gold balance, as well as a silicon escape wheel uses 37 jewels. There is no seconds indication, only hours and minutes.
This De Bethune watch comes at a price – $75,000 to be exact. That may be not an unreasonable price but clearly, this timepiece will not be affordable for anyone.
