Dedicated to an Endangered Species: The New Carl F. Bucherer

CARL F. BUCHERER MANTA TRUST 2017

Carl F. Bucherer just launched a dive watch series dedicated to the Manta Trust charity. We all love a good dive watch – they are serious tools, built to last and simply cool. Such a timepiece, dedicated to a great cause related to the sea is something many watch lovers – and divers of course – may want to have in their collection.
The Manta Trust with which Carl F. Bucherer is collaborating here, is a UK registered charity, committed to protecting and ensuring the survival of these mysterious and beautiful animals in more than 20 different countries. Carl F. Bucherer has supported the Manta Trust for many years, and now the Swiss watch manufacturer introduced a limited-edition timepiece dedicated to the charity for the first time. “We are proud to be a partner of the Manta Trust. With the new Patravi ScubaTec Manta Trust edition, we are paying tribute to the admirable work of Guy Stevens and his team,” says Sascha Moeri, CEO of Carl F. Bucherer.
So let’s have a look.

The new Patravi ScubaTec Manta Trust comes in a stainless steel case and bezel, the latter is fitted with ceramic inlays and a fluted profile which makes the bezel easy to handle with gloves. The case measures 44,6 mm in diameter. The watch also features an automatic helium release valve, making it perfectly equipped for dives up to 500 metres. The luminescent indices and hands round off its distinctly sporty look and ensure that it is easy readable under water.
Inside the CFB 1950.1, an automatic, self-winding caliber; not an in-house movement but the Swiss ETA 2824-2. It beats at a frequency of 4 Hz and provides a power-reserve of 38 hours when fully wound. This caliber ensures that the Patravi ScubaTec Manta Trust runs smoothly and vigorously, ensuring a safe dive.

Every one of these watches is one of a kind – an unique engraving on the back of the case depicts the pattern on the stomach of a specific individual manta ray captured on camera underwater by the Manta Trust-team. The identification number is engraved underneath it. This number also acts as an access code to a website where the owner can bestow a name upon this real manta ray.

The Carl F. Bucherer Patravi ScubaTec Manta Trust is a serious diving watch and limited to 188 pieces. By purchasing one of this models you don’t only get a unique timepiece but also contribute to the conservation of manta rays.
