MB&F presents the Horological Machine N°10 “Bulldog”

In their latest model, the creatives at MB&F are directly comparing the relationship between man and dog and the relationship between man and wristwatch. The best examples of such connections last for years, even decades and shape lives. And, like the one with Man’s Best Friend, the relationship between a man and his wristwatch is also not only long-lasting, but formative and symbiotic. In some cases, the watch even chooses its owner as much as the other way around – just like the dog chooses its human. Since both relationships are equally special, MB&F has dedicated an entire watch to this fact: Presenting the Horological Machine N°10 “Bulldog”.

A rounded, compact body of titanium or red gold, coupled with a generous ration of sapphire crystal. Two prominent aluminium time-display”eyes”, rolling at anyone who dares look its way. They are equipped with Super-LumiNova in order to provide best legibility.
Despite its outsize personality – measuring 45mm across, 54mm from nose to tail and with a maximum height of 24mm, the “Bulldog” is surprisingly wearable. The case is water-resistant up to 5 atm and boasts two crowns. The one on the left-hand side is used to wind the movement, the one on the right-hand side is used to set the time.

Just like the dog for which it is named, there’s more to the HM 10 Bulldog than meets the eye. Its hinged jaws open and shut accoring to the amount of wind left in its mainspring – a fully closed mouth tells you that “Bulldog” is wound down and ready for a nap. If can clearly see the rows of shining teeth lining the jaws, that means the “Bulldog” is full of fight, charged with a 45 hours of mainspring energy. This massive power-reserve indication has been carefully designed and calibrrated to consume the least energy possible. It’s a much-expanded demonstration of the power-reserve management that was first deployed in the 2014 LM1 Xia Hang.

Just like the dog, the watch “Bulldog” is, above all its visual features, characterized by its big heart that beats constantly for its owner – in this case at 2.5 Hz. The hand-wound movement was designed and developed by MB&F in-house, leveraging the best of the manufacture’s technial expertise built up over the years; longtime members of the MB&F Tribe will recognize familiar features.
The large suspended balance that hovers just beaneath the central dome was made possible by the various iterations of this mechanism in the Legacy Machine collection.

The new MB&F Horological Machine N°10 “Bulldog” is worn on a calfskin strap that is at least as robust as any well-made leash. It adapts perfectly to the stout but flexible “legs” that wrap firmly around your wrist.
This watch is available in two launch editions: titanium body with blue “eyes”, and red gold and titanium body with black “eyes”.
