Pre-Baselworld: New Alpiner 4 Flyback Chronograph

With the launch of its first in-house Manufacture Flyback Chronograph at Baselworld 2015, Alpina celebrated an important première in its history. With its AL-760 patented “Direct Flyback Technology” automatic flyback caliber, Alpina not only introduced its first in-house chronograph caliber, but also innovated and simplified the flyback and return to zero mechanism. Over three years went by between the initial concept and readiness for production.
As a 2016 pre-Baselworld novelty, Alpina presents its new full black AL-760 Alpiner 4 manufacture Flyback Chronograph.

For the new AL-760 caliber the modular construction based of the AL-710 caliber was adopted which features a balance frequency of 4 Hertz, centre seconds and a date hand at 6 o’clock.
The AL-760 movement, comprising 233 component from which 96 are necessary for the flyback module features a rotor operating in both directions and a 39-hour power reserve.

2016 Pre-Basel Novelty_AL-760BBG5FBAQ6The chronograph push-piece is protected against errors of manipulation through a clearly perceptible resistance when it’s started. The stop operation can be repeated as often as wished which results in a cumulative split. The chronograph will be reset to zero when the push-piece at 4 o’clock is actuated. With the instant type of flyback the chronograph function can be set to zero and instantly be started again.

The black sunburst dial features three sub-dials. A 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a date at 6 o’clock and the chronograph seconds at 9 o’clock. All sub-dials are slightly sunken which adds depth to the dial and ensures great legibility. The big indexes and hands accentuate the dial additionally. They are all equipped with beige luminous coating. The beige color is also found on the telemeter 2016 Pre-Basel Novelty_2016_AL-760BBG5FBAQ6_Close-upring on the outer rim of the dial as well as in the stitching of the leather bracelet.

With its striking appearance, the new Alpiner 4 Manufacture Flyback Chronograph remains true to ist successful predecessor, but demonstrates a distinctive personality of its own. The black, PVD coated stainless steel case measures 44 mm in diameter. The square pusher are positioned above and below the crown. The latter is a screw-in crown to ensure that the watch is water-resistant up to 100 meters.
