Raymond Weil announced a new addition to its series of music special edition timepieces. The watches of this collection celebrate influential and iconic musicians and the Buddy Holly maestro watch fits right in. Recent partnerships with The Beatles and Frank Sinatra, Gibson, Sennheiser or the BRIT Awards already showed the brand’s commitment and love for music and the music industry.
Designed in collaboration with Maria Elena Holly, the limited edition maestro pays tribute to legendary musician Buddy Holly. He is widely recognized as the pioneer of Rock’n’Roll, influenced and inspired not only many artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Elton John, but was an icon for a whole generation.
The Buddy Holly maestro celebrates the 80th anniversary of the musicians’ birth.
Raymond Weil has designed the Buddy Holly maestro with distinctive features and references to the artist. The distinctive maestro case measures 35 mm in diameter and is made from polished stainless steel, as is the bracelet completing this watch. The case houses an automatic mechanical movement, the RW4250 which provides a 38 hour power reserve.
The silver galvanic dial has highlights of pale blue – Buddy Holly’s favourite color – encircling the rim, and on the secondary second sub dial. The latter also wears a miniature pair of glasses on the sweep of the second hand, the iconic emblem of the singer and guitarist. The oversized number 9, featured as reference to Buddy Holly’s lucky number, is balanced by the date dial at the 3 o’clock position with the emblem of the musician’s signature centered on the face of the dial.
A contribution from each watch sold will be donated to the Buddy Holly Educational Foundation, a charity set up to provide music education and opportunities to young people worldwide. The smoked sapphire crystal exhibition case back references the tribute to this good cause.
