The Icelandic watch manufacturer JS Watch co. Reykjavik introduced a new addition to its SIF N.A.R.T. 1948 collection – a wristwatch made in honor of the Icelandic Coast Guard patrolling the North Atlantic seas for over 60 years.
The SIF North Atlantic Rescue Timer (N.A.R.T.) 1948 is a classically styled pilot rescue watch and we have to admit – like everything else coming out of JS Watch co. Reykjaviks workshop, these watches look gorgeous and the power of the lume just swept us off our feet.
The dial is matt black, featuring Arabic green luminous numerals and indexes and green luminous pilot style hands. The SIF N.A.R.T. 1948 is also available with a sunburst dark blue dial with white luminous numerals and hands. The indexes and numerals are very high and make a massive appearance, adding a lot of character to the dial. This model is a classic three-hand-watch sporting a date window at 3 o’clock.
The lume is really bright and looks amazing in the dark and all that is protected by an anti reflective sapphire crystal.
The case is made from German surgical grade stainless steel, it is brushed and water resistant to a depth of 1.000 meters. With a diameter of 40 mm the SIF N.A.R.T. 1948 is moderately sized. It comes with a handmade 20 mm vintage pilot strap (handcrafted Italian leather that is) or steel bracelet.
The watch is powered by a Swiss Made mechanical movement “Execution Top” with automatic winding that provides a 40 hour power reserve when fully wound.
Like all watches from JS Watch co. Reykjavik, the SIF N.A.R.T. 1948 is also assembled by hand in the Icelandic workshop. All parts of the JS Watch watches are crafted in Germany and Switzerland by nine different, esteemed companies that have been specializing in creating either cases, movements, dials, hands etc. for some of the world’s leading watch brands for decades.
