Down in the Abyss with the Visconti Skull & Roses

Visconti is known for its exclusive writing instruments – and for designing extraordinary looking watches. To mark its 25th anniversary in 2013, Visconti decided to bring watchmaking back to the city of Florence by beginning to make its own luxury watches. The designs of Visconti’s watches are controversial, to say the least – they are big, bold and will not be overlooked. And the newest addition to the collection is no exception.
Wild, colorful and with a skull on the dial – that is the new Sport Dive Skull  & Roses. This watch is available in two different versions and without a doubt the rock star among the watches of Visconti.

This diver’s watch comes with a stainless steel case (milled from a mono-block) that measures 45mm in diameter – without the crown. With it, the Skull & Roses measures an enormous 57,9mm. In height, the watch comes down to 17.8mm, thanks to the convex sapphire crystal protecting the dial. All surfaces of the case are micro-blasted and satined while finished with an iridescent blue-green PVD coating.
The uni-directional rotating bezel which bears an engraved time scale is made from aluminium and bronze and sports a sensational saw-tooth edge. The Skull & Roses is a serious diver’s watch, water proof up to 300 (!) atm or 3.000 meters. An automatic helium escape valve is incorporated in the case at the 6 o’clock position.

Let’s have a look at the dial – which is the true star of this watch. It comes in either red-green or yellow-blue and with a big skull right there in the center. Visconti opted for indices rather than numerals; only the 12, 4 and 8 o’clock positions are dominated by big roman numerals.
The hands come in the characteristic Visconti design and are equipped with lume. The watch displays hours, minutes and seconds. At 2 o’clock a date window can be found and there’s also a power-reserve indicator – placed into the left eye socket of the scull. How awesome is that?!

The Sport Dive Skull & Roses is powered by a Swiss Made movement by Soprod. The self-winding mechanical calibre SOP 9340/A10-2 beats with 28.800 A/h and provides a power reserve of approximately 42 hours.

This watch is complemented by a water-resistant leather bracelet.
The Sport Dive Skull & Roses is limited to 39 pieces per version.
