Only a few more weeks and our favourite British spy – James Bond – will return to the cinemas in the latest movie “Spectre”. So it’s time to get really excited. And Omega already introduced the new watch 007 will be wearing in his on-screen adventure.
The year 1995 and the movie “Golden Eye” marked a turning point in the history of James Bond. First, Pierce Brosnan was introduced as the new 007 and watchmaker Omega became the new official sponsor, replacing Rolex. The Omega Seamaster became the new watch for the secret agent and for the upcoming movie the Omega Seamaster 300 “Spectre” Limited Edition will be the watch he wears.
There will only be 7007 pieces available. For the first time the watch will be on sale simultaneously with the debut of the movie in cinemas- talk about perfect timing.
The Seamaster 300 was first introduced on Baselworld 2014. This series is historically-themed but nonetheless a very modern watch collection. It mimics the classic Omega Seamaster 300 from the 1950ies which was the first Omega watch carrying a Master Co-Axial movement, the in-house Omega Caliber 8400 movement which resists magnetic fields up to 15.000 gauss.
In addition to the rugged looks and dive watch credentials the Omega Seamaster 300 is the perfect watch for James Bond.
Compared to the collection from 2014 there have been a few mentionable alterations. The dial is the same aside from the arabic number 12 which was replaced by a bigger company logo. Also the hour and minute hands remained the same whereas the seconds hand has a new “lollipop” design.
The polished black bezel can be rotated clockwise as well as counterclockwise and its LiquidMetal indices run from 0 to 11. So you have practically a second time zone conveniently always at hand.
The most noticeable alteration is the bracelet – it’s a 5-stripe black and grey NATO strap. The Omega logo is engraved in the hardware as well as the 007 gun logo.
Each Omega Seamaster 300 “Spectre” Limited Edition watch comes with an engraved serial number on the back and additionally there will be an engraving of the James Bond Spectre film logo.
