This May, Vacheron Constantin announced, that the elegantly understated Patrimony moon phase retrograde date model is joining the Collection Excellence Platine concept. Launched in 2006, it offers collectors exceptional watches in platinum limited editions.
Presented in 2017 in white and pink gold versions, this model is one of Vacheron Constantin’s signature watches. Its understated elegance and sober design ensures pleasing proportions and embodies the Maison’s elegance at first glance.
Entirely faithful to the spirit of the Patrimony colleciton, drawing inspiration from the watches of the 1950s, the Patrimony moon phase retrograde date model bears witness to the minimalistic aesthetic approach aimed at achieving perfectly balanced lines. Like the crown, dial and buckle, the timelessly elegant 42.5 mm case is made of platinum.
The dial is slightly convex and around its circumference and punctuated by applied white gold hour markers, appearing at intervals around a likewise white gold pearl minute track. The baton-type hands are also made from white gold. The moon-phase disc, which can be admired through an aperture at 6 o’clock, is platinum with a polished surface on the stars and a grained texture for the moon circles imitating the visible irregularities of the lunar surface.
The second complication – a retrograde date indication – occupies the upper part of the dial. Its central hand is blued for optimum readability.
The watch is powered by the in-house calibre 2460R31L. The automatic movement can be viewed through the sapphire crystal case back and provides a power reserve of approximately 40 hours.
For optimal user-friendliness, all function settings are performed via the crown.
The midnight blue alligator leather strap which completes the Patrimony moon phase and retrograde date display collection Excellence Platine is hand-stitched with platinum and silk threads.
This watch is a boutique edition limited to 50 pieces.
