There’s a new watchbrand in town. Well, not exactly, since Shinola and Detroit Watch Co amongst others are based in Detroit, but Oak & Oscar from Chicago is definitely up for the challenge to enrich the market of American-made watches with its creations. We are taking a closer look on the brands Burnham watch.
The custom-designed stainless steel case 42 mm in diameter and the bezel is minimal so there’s all eyes on the dial. It’s a grey sandwich dial, dark grey hands and an orange seconds hand with a counter balance. The color-matched date wheel features a modified font and is positioned at 6 o’clock to maintain balance and symmetry. The other cutout, aside from the numbers, is not filled with lume and its purpose is to add depth on the dial. The luminous paint Oak & Oscar is using is blue and it looks gorgeous. The dial also features a chapter ring.
The Burnham features a Soprod A10 automatic mechanical movement. The custom rotor (decorated with stars), heat-treated blued screws and decorated bridges can be seen through the sapphire display back.
The leather strap, made of Horween leather by Indiana-based Woodnsteel, has the perfect orange undertones and will develop a beautiful patina over time. The Burnham also comes with a nevy heavy-duty nylon strap with a signed buckle and orange stitching from Crown & Buckle. The watch itself is assembled and tested in the U.S.A. by a highly skilled team of experts at the Ohio-based Lum-Tec.
Each watch includes a matching leather watch wallet made by Defy Mfg Co., a local Chicago bag, apparel and accessory shop.
