Not only for sailing enthusiasts: Delma Oceanmaster Tide

Since people have settled on the coasts and especially since they started to explore the sea, the tide has played an important role in their lives. The effects of the tides vary according to location, and in certain regions of the world the variation can be quite significant. In some cases, the change in tides is so enormous that certain land passages are not accessible at all at low tide, while other areas become extremely dangerous as the tide rises. It is therefore essential for navigation to know when these peaks occur and practical forecasting tools are needed for seafarers and coastal explorers. And this is exactly why Delma created the Oceanmaster Tide.

With the new Oceanmaster Tide, Delma introduced a tidal tracking function in the Oceanmaster collection. This new component enables tracking of the ebb and flow of the sea. With high and low tide clearly indicated on the bezel, the wearer will always be aware of tidal conditions. The bezel is to be set according to the local tide table and once set, the streamlined high and low tide indicators help to approximate the tide schedule. The subtle graduation of tidal phases reflects the gradual changes in sea level as tidal bulges and recessions occur. In keeping with the collection, Delma has also equipped the Oceanmaster Tide with a tactical planner and points of sail indicators, and of course the indexes and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova so the time is clearly legible in the dark. The index at the 6 o’clock position is replaced by a date window.

The robust stainless steel case comes in a generous diameter of 44 mm. As with many of its models, Delma offers the Oceanmaster Tide with two different movements: You can choose between an automatic calibre (the ETA 2824) or a quartz movement (also made by ETA). The Oceanmaster Tide Automatic is water resistant to 50 atm and equipped with a helium valve; the Oceanmaster Tide Quartz comes with a water resistance of “only” 20 atm and without a helium valve.
In addition to those two models, Delma also offers the Oceanmaster Tide as a chronograph, which also features a quartz movement, this time by Ronda. All models are available with either a stainless steel or rubber strap.
