The André Belfort Sous les mers: A Classic Diver’s Watch

The André Belfort Sous les mers is one elegant, timeless, masculin and sporty watch that one want to wear every day and yes, it goes great with everything. You can wear it in the office and – if you have the opportunity – with a tuxedo. After all, James Bond does it, so why shouldn’t you? Some of the nine versions André Belfort offers are remarkably versatile while being serious dive watches.

The dial of the Sous les mers comes in a somber and classic design. Indices and hands are quite large and equipped with lots of lume to guarantee a good legibility even in the dark.
The bezel is completing the attractive exterior with its large numerals every ten minutes. Like in all dive watches, the bezel does only rotate clockwise so you can’t accidentally prolong the time under water, probably running into trouble with your air supply.
The dial is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal that comes with an ingrained magnifyer at the 3 o’clock position over the date window. Cyclops watches are always a matter of taste – either you hate them or you love them – but André Belfort has done a good job by keeping it relatively understated.

With 44 mm in diameter and 13 mm in height the André Belfort Sous les mers is one of the bigger models, but still far away of being oversized. As we’ve seen develop the tastes in wristwatches over the last years we dare to say that 44 mm is a quite perfect size at the moment, especially for a sporty model. The polished and brushed details of the case and bracelet make for a nice look, especially in combination with the beautifully toothed bezel.
This wristwatch is water-resistant up to 30 atm or 300 meters and therefore classifies as a diver’s watch. On the side of the case, at the 9 o’clock position, you’ll find the helium escape valve. It makes sure that gases that crept into the watch while going down into the abyss can escape safely and controlled on the way back up. Completely automatic.

The André Belfort Sous les mers is powered by a reliable automatic movement which also provides a power-reserve of approximately 38 hours.

André Belfort offers nine different versions of this watch, like mentioned above; with a stainless steel or silicone bracelet. Except for a black model with rose gold coating, all versions feature a stainless steel case with differently colored dials and bezels.
